Bougie Girl Got Her Bougie Way
8/23 ‘Twas the night before Burning Man and all I know is I wanted to stay in a nice big bed with all the amenities - you know, like a real shower and with an a/c we didn’t have to micromanage etc so I treated us to a hotel in Reno after dropping Dashy at Spanish Springs Pet Resort to live his best life for a week. 🐶🙃 It’s 50/50 whether he will even want to jump back in this van after frolicking through doggie pools and chasing doggie friends in wide open spaces!
At the hotel we recharged, washed all our dirty clothes (booking a place with a laundromat was key) and made our list for our road to Burning Man… and even watched a little football.
We had a lovely dinner in a highly recommended restaurant, the Shore and it did not disappoint. We woke up and ran all the errands we needed to (and trust me when I say there are a lot of tricks to this adventure and I’m certain we’ve missed some- such as the “memo” to definitely NOT stop at the last gas station before the entrance)! 🤦♀️🤪😂
So now we SIT and crawl toward the one diesel pump…. We are so close it seems (apparently 15 miles away) yet so far in this supposedly 2 hour long gas line! 🤦♀️🤪
And unfortunately for Ross we “found” all these CUTE pop up shops on the road here selling stuff to wear etc so we could try and somewhat fit in with the artistic vibe. And of course I had to stop and check them out. 😬 I don’t think we can even attempt to catch up with most of these amazingly creative folks I’ve already seen before even getting there, but at least we added a few fun and festive things. I’ll post pics later of our finds!
oh and learned at the market that since it is our first time we got free gifts from a lot of the market vendors as “virgins”! I was so clueless that I thought when they asked us if I was a virgin I responded “well I have twin 22 year olds so clearly not!” 🤦♀️🤷🏼♀️😂 (I know you are horrified K and D!) lol
Real time update… we just witnessed one of the small dust storms that are infamous and why we came stocked with eye protection. (At least we got that memo)
Okay, more later from what apparently they call “The Playa” (learned that at the market too BTW)… stay tuned for the excitement of finding our spot and home for a week!
